Live 3D sonar data prompted discussions about underwater monitoring at the Seabed Demo Days in Amsterdam, where Water Linked demonstrated its technology to professionals working in dredging, inspection, seabed mapping and underwater construction.
Chief Commercial Officer Scott McLay and Field Application Engineer Thilo Konstantin Huck ran the demonstrations alongside colleagues from the NORBIT Oceans family. Visitors could compare submerged targets with their representation on screen and watch the data update live.
The sonar’s frame rate drew particular attention. For visitors familiar with scanning systems, the demonstrations highlighted the potential of rapidly updated 3D point clouds for close-range monitoring applications. Data quality and the ability to follow activity as it happens were central to these discussions.
Many visitors were experienced sonar users surveying Dutch waterways, assessing underwater structures and supporting dredging and pipe-laying operations. Their questions brought practical requirements into focus: what detail could they capture, at what distance, and how could the data be integrated into their existing software?
Conversations also explored the use of sonar data in mapping workflows, potential software integrations and applications for Water Linked’s Doppler Velocity Logs.
Participating with the wider NORBIT Oceans family gave the team time to exchange technical perspectives and discuss customer needs across the group. For Water Linked, the event offered direct feedback from the people who use sonar in their daily work.
